Security Engineer #2018-199

Responsibilities:

  • Configure and maintain security and network monitoring tools
  • Evaluate and document all FISMA controls and weaknesses
  • Assist operational engineering teams to evaluate risks and provide recommendation and implementation strategies to help mitigate weaknesses
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement information security measures to safeguard information in computer files against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure.
  • Review violations of computer security procedures to eliminate violations.
  • Support C&A efforts and integration with an Enterprise Security Program.
  • Work in a team environment and have proven technical ability in LAN/WAN design and implementation as well as a understanding of TCP/IP and routing protocols
  • Manage complex changes to the customer's network
  • Provide support for Security audits, assessments, design, implementation and configuration of security tools
  • Research and provide information and security related solutions
  • Functions as a third level support resource to respond to Incidents or perform troubleshooting; required to support 24x7 pager duty on a rotating schedule
  • Collaborate with system owners, IT project managers, and other DevOps engineers to identify and resolve the causes of delayed patching
  • Develop communication materials to document the security status of each application and progress in addressing vulnerabilities and configuration misconfigurations
  • Deploying, testing, maintaining, patching, and operating security tools

Job Qualifications:

  • This position requires U. S. Citizenship due to our Federal contractual obligation
  • Bachelors Degree
  • 6 years related work experience, including prior experience providing security device support
  • 1 year experience working within a Cloud environment (AWS and Azure)
  • Experience with intrusion detection / prevention systems; firewalls; server log analysis; vulnerability scanners, and security management tools
  • Experience developing and maintaining C&A documentation to include: risk assessments; system security plans; contingency planning (CP) and disaster recovery plans (DRP); plans of actions and milestones
  • Basic understanding of security vulnerabilities
  • Possess basic knowledge of network and computer security issues
  • Theoretical underpinnings of computer security, as well as, experience with communicating complex technical issues to non-technical audiences in a Windows and Unix environment
  • Understanding and managing risk in large enterprise infrastructures
  • Developing strategies to defend systems and networks from attacks
  • Demonstrated written communication skills that reflect a variety of reports, procedures, and informational documents which identify, clarify, and produce creative solutions
  • Prior work supporting multiple server platforms, workstations, and networks is essential
  • Previous experience working in a large government or corporate enterprise environment is a requirement
  • Proven experience with scripting (either in bash, python or other).
  • Agile experience with Scrum and/or Kanban a plus

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
